Project Engineer
Help Bring Great Projects to Life
Project Engineers are an essential part of the team that turns plans into successful projects. Working alongside Project Managers and Superintendents, you’ll help coordinate the day-to-day activities of a project while keeping cost, schedule, quality, safety, and communication on track.
This role provides hands-on exposure to all phases of construction, from preconstruction and project coordination through closeout. You’ll work with owners, architects, consultants, contractors, and field teams while developing the skills and experience needed to grow within the construction industry.
What You’ll Do
- Support Project Managers and Superintendents with the day-to-day coordination and administration of construction projects
- Assist with proposals, presentations, and obtaining subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Help develop and maintain project schedules and track project progress
- Support jobsite safety efforts, including required notifications, signage, supplies, and equipment
- Coordinate with owners, consultants, contractors, and project team members
- Prepare agendas and meeting minutes for OAC, trade, and other project meetings
- Review submittals for compliance with project specifications and requirements
- Maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, plan distribution, addenda, permits, cost reports, change proposals, change orders, ASIs, safety logs, punch lists, and closeout documents
- Assist in coordinating the work of multiple trades to keep projects moving according to plan
- Review contractor changes and design professional additional service requests
- Support the preparation of daily and monthly project reports
- Assist with punch list development and follow-up to ensure timely completion
- Help obtain required plan checks, permits, and inspections
- Assist with project closeout and turnover documentation
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and support business development efforts when needed
What Success Looks Like
- Project documentation is accurate, organized, and maintained throughout the project
- Project Managers and Superintendents have the information and support they need to keep work moving
- Meetings, RFIs, submittals, changes, and other project activities are tracked and followed through
- Potential issues are identified early and communicated to the appropriate team members
- Communication with owners, consultants, contractors, and internal teams is timely and professional
- Projects stay focused on cost, schedule, quality, and safety objectives
- Strong working relationships are developed with clients and project partners
What We’re Looking For
Desired Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of Project Engineer experience in the construction management industry is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to read architectural plans and specifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, and other construction related software
- Ability to effectively present information in oral, written and graphic form
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff and outside entities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to evaluate information to proactively find solutions
- Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural Degree, or equivalent experience
